ToF VL53L8CH USB

Multizone time-of-flight sensor with a USB-C interface, built around the ST VL53L8CH — the most capable chip of the lineup: VL53L8CX next-generation multizone ranging plus CNH histogram output for on-device AI. It returns an 8×8 depth map at up to 4 m, keeps ranging at 285 cm under 5 klx of sunlight, and streams Compact Normalized Histograms (up to 128 bins per zone at 30 Hz) — raw per-zone return profiles for ML-based material classification, occupancy analytics and gesture research. Over USB-C the device shows up as a virtual COM port (CDC) and streams the data with a simple protocol — no I²C wiring, MCU code or drivers required. Works with anything that can open a serial port, from a PC to a Raspberry Pi or Jetson.
