Single-zone time-of-flight distance sensor with a USB-C interface, built around the ST VL53L0X — the first-generation chip of the family, measuring absolute distance up to 2 m regardless of target color or reflectance. It is the simplest and most affordable sensor in the lineup: one fixed 25° zone, no histogram processing, nothing to configure. If you need a reliable digital tape measure for presence detection or basic obstacle sensing, this is the budget pick. Over USB-C the device shows up as a virtual COM port (CDC) and streams readings with a simple protocol — no I²C wiring, MCU code or drivers required. Works with anything that can open a serial port, from a PC to a Raspberry Pi or Jetson.
